Part A of the SSC GD paper tests General Intelligence & Reasoning at a level every 10th-pass candidate can reach: analogies, classification, number and letter series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, order and ranking, and figure questions such as mirror images, paper folding and embedded figures. The questions are short and the patterns repeat, so this is the part where practice converts most directly into marks.
These tests take Part A out of each full-length SSC GD mock and run it on its own clock. That makes them the fastest way to fix a weak part: you sit only the section of the paper you need, with the same exam interface, the same +2 / −0.25 marking and the same step-by-step solutions.
The 50 tests rotate through analogy and classification, number and alphabet series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction and distance, order and ranking, Venn diagrams, mirror and water images, paper folding and cutting, embedded figures and figure series, in the proportions real GD shifts use, so by the end of the series every question type in the part has come up several times.
Take a full-length mock first and note the part that cost you the most marks or the most minutes. Then work through that part's subject tests in order, two or three at a sitting, and review every wrong answer before moving on. When the part score is stable, return to full-length papers to check that the gain holds up when all four parts share the clock.
Keep an error log with three columns — concept, careless slip, time — and look at it before each test. Most of the marks available in Reasoning come from removing repeated slips rather than learning new topics.
